The New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade provide a number of scholarships each year for Indonesian citizens to undertake postgraduate studies at New Zealand universities. The ZN-AS Awards seek to make a substantial contribution to ASEAN’s development by providing opportunities for postgraduate study in New Zealand. The New Zealand-ASEAN scholars Awards (NZ-AS) are part of the New Zealand’s official development assistance to the ASEAN region.
General Eligiblity Criteria
- Hold a bachelor’s and postgraduate’s degree of strong academic merit that is relevant to the proposed postgraduate qualification.
- Satisfy the admission requirements of the New Zealand institution in which the degree programme is to be undertaken (incl. English language criteria).
- Satisfy New Zealand Government immigration requirement for international student entry to New Zealand.
- Preferably be under 40 years of age at the time of application for Masters and under 45 years of age for PhD.
- Be available to take up the scholarship in the calender year for which the scholarship is offered.
- Be a citizen of Indonesia and have resided in Indonesia for at least two years at the time of application.
- Meet minimum English Language requirements : Most universities require a minimum IELTS (academic) score of 6.5 overall, with no band less than 6.0 or a TOEFL score of more than 575 (result to be no older than 24 month at time of application and international test result preferred)*
*However, applicants with minimum of IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL 513 will be considered for an NZ-AS
